# Plans and billing Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/account/billing Pick the plan that fits and manage payment. ZeroRank has three plans. They differ in how many prompts you track and how many AI answers you get each month. A prompt is [a question we ask AI engines for you](/start/glossary). Pick the one that fits your brand, and change it any time. Every plan starts with a **7-day free trial** with every feature turned on. You are not charged until the trial ends. You can cancel any time before then. ## Compare the plans | Plan | Price | Prompts | AI answers per month | Articles | Optimizations | | ---------- | ------------------------- | ------- | -------------------- | -------- | ------------- | | Starter | \$89/month | 50 | 4,500 | 3 | 3 | | Pro | \$199/month | 150 | 13,500 | 12 | 12 | | Enterprise | from \$499/month (custom) | 350+ | 31,500+ | 36 | 36 | "Articles" are full pieces ZeroRank writes for you each month. "Optimizations" are rewrites that make a page you already have easier for AI to quote. Pro adds **Slack support** on top of email. Enterprise adds **single sign-on** (SSO, one company login for your whole team). Enterprise also gives you a **dedicated account rep**, a real person who helps you get the most out of ZeroRank. ## What every plan includes * Tracking on AI engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and more * Daily prompt runs, so your numbers stay fresh every day * Unlimited countries, so you can track any region you want * Unlimited seats, so your whole team can sign in * MCP server access, so your AI assistant can read your ZeroRank data ## Save with yearly billing Pay for a year up front and save **up to 15%**. You get the same plan, just at a lower price per month. You can switch between monthly and yearly when you change your plan. ZeroRank also sells **AppSumo lifetime deals** — you pay once and keep the plan for good. Those tiers run your prompts **once a week** instead of every day. Everything else works the same. ## What happens when you hit a limit Each plan has a cap on prompts and on AI answers per month. When you reach a cap, ZeroRank pauses that part until your limits reset. You have two choices: * **Upgrade any time.** Move to a bigger plan and your new, higher limits start right away. * **Wait for the next cycle.** Your answer count resets at the start of your next billing period. ## Manage your billing Go to **Settings**, then **Billing** in the app. From there you can: * **Change your plan.** Move up or down between Starter, Pro, and Enterprise, or switch between monthly and yearly. * **Resume a canceled plan.** If you canceled, you can turn your plan back on and keep your data. * **Update payment.** Open the billing portal to change your card, see past invoices, and download receipts. We handle payments through the billing portal, so your card details stay safe with our payment provider. Have a billing question? Email [support@zerorank.ai](mailto:support@zerorank.ai) and we will help you out. ## Keep going Invite members and give them the right access in your workspace. Manage your workspace name, region, and other settings. # Members and roles Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/account/members Invite your team and choose what each person can do. A workspace is more fun with your team in it. You can invite the people you work with, then give each one the right level of access. A member is a person in your workspace. Each member has a role, and the role decides what they can do. Every plan comes with unlimited seats. Invite as many people as you like — it never costs more. ## The three roles There are three roles. Here is what each one can do. | Role | What they can do | | ------ | ----------------------------------------------------------- | | Owner | Created the workspace. Has full control, including billing. | | Admin | Manage settings, members, and everything day-to-day. | | Member | Do the everyday work: prompts, content, and workflows. | A few notes on roles: * There is one Owner. It is the person who first made the workspace. * When you invite someone, you pick **Admin** or **Member** for them. * Admins can do almost everything. Members get the everyday tools but not the workspace settings. A prompt is a question we ask AI engines for you. New here? See the [glossary](/start/glossary). ## Invite a teammate Inviting someone takes about a minute. They get an email and can join right away. Go to your workspace settings and open the **Members** page. Type your teammate's email address into the invite box. Choose **Admin** or **Member**. You can change this later. ZeroRank emails them a link to join. They click it and they're in. ### Resend or cancel an invite An invite waits until your teammate accepts it. Until then, you have two options: * **Resend** the invite if the email got lost or buried. * **Cancel** the invite if you sent it by mistake or no longer need it. You'll find both choices next to the pending invite on the **Members** page. ## Change a role or remove a member People move teams and jobs change. You can update anyone in your workspace at any time. * **Change a role:** Find the member on the **Members** page and switch them between **Admin** and **Member**. * **Remove a member:** Take someone out of the workspace when they no longer need access. Removing a member takes away their access right away. Add them back later with a fresh invite if you need to. ## Keep going Manage your workspace name and shared settings. Inviting your team is task six of your getting-started checklist. # Workspace settings Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/account/workspace Manage your workspace, regions, topics, and connected tools. A workspace is the shared home for your team and all its work in ZeroRank. Your [prompts](/start/glossary) (the questions ZeroRank asks AI engines for you), brands, content, and workflows all live inside one workspace. Everyone you invite shares the same workspace. So you all see the same prompts, the same results, and the same settings. ## You can have more than one workspace You can belong to several workspaces at once. Each one keeps its own data, fully separate from the others. For example, one agency could run a workspace for each client. The work in one never mixes with the work in another. A switcher in the app lets you hop between your workspaces. You can also create a new one whenever you need it. Switching workspaces changes everything you see — prompts, brands, results, and settings all swap to that workspace. ## Where workspace settings live Open **Settings → Workspace** in the app. This is the control panel for your whole workspace. Here you manage a few key things. ### General details You set your general details when you first sign up, during onboarding. This is your company info and your website. You can come back and update these details any time from workspace settings. ### Regions for tracking You pick which countries you want to track. ZeroRank then runs your prompts as if someone were asking from those places. This matters because AI engines can give different answers in different countries. Every plan lets you track unlimited countries. ### Topics Topics are the subject areas that group your prompts. You choose your first topics during onboarding, and you can add more later. Topics help keep your results easy to read. Learn more on [Topics and tags](/tracking/topics-and-tags). ### Integrations The **Integrations** section is also under **Settings → Workspace**. This is where you connect outside tools, like WordPress or Slack. Once a tool is connected, your workflows and content steps can use it. See [Integrations overview](/integrations/overview) for the full list. Think of a workspace like one shared desk. Your whole team works at the same desk, with the same papers and the same tools on it. ## Who can change these settings Settings change for everyone in the workspace, not just you. So a change you make is a change your whole team sees. To control who can edit settings, manage your team's roles on [Members](/account/members). ## Keep going Connect WordPress, Slack, and other tools to your workspace. Set up the brand details ZeroRank uses to write content. Group your prompts so your results are easy to read. Invite your team and choose what each person can do. # Get a chat Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/api-reference/analytics/get-a-chat /api/openapi.json get /chats/{id} Returns one chat in full: the complete AI answer (Markdown) together with every source it cited. Each source includes the cited URL, its clean domain, and a 1-based `position`. `position` is a stable citation index — identical on every request — but not necessarily the order the links appear in the answer text. # Get brand rankings Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/api-reference/analytics/get-brand-rankings /api/openapi.json get /rankings Returns how your brands rank over a recent window of days, including mentions, sentiment, visibility, and growth. # List recent chats Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/api-reference/analytics/list-recent-chats /api/openapi.json get /chats Returns recent answers AI engines gave back for your prompts. Ask for those with `status=suggested` or `status=rejected`. # Run a prompt now Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/api-reference/prompts/run-a-prompt-now /api/openapi.json post /prompts/{id}/run Runs an existing prompt right now across your workspace's active AI models, or just the models you list. Each run counts against your monthly answer runs. Needs a key with the `write` scope. # Update a prompt Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/api-reference/prompts/update-a-prompt /api/openapi.json put /prompts/{id} Updates a prompt's text, status, location, tags, or topic. `PATCH` works the same way. Needs a key with the `write` scope. # Update a prompt (PATCH) Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/api-reference/prompts/update-a-prompt-patch /api/openapi.json patch /prompts/{id} Same as `PUT /prompts/{id}`. Needs a key with the `write` scope. # Get workspace context Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/api-reference/workspace/get-workspace-context /api/openapi.json get /workspace Returns the workspace this key belongs to, the plan, the key's own scopes, and the key's rate limit. A good first call to check that a key works. # Authentication Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/api/authentication Make a key, choose what it can do, and send it with your requests. Every API request needs a key. A key proves the request is yours and ties it to one workspace. You make keys in the ZeroRank app, then send one with each request. Only workspace owners and admins can make or remove keys. A key can read your data and spend your plan usage, so it is kept to those roles. ## Make a key In ZeroRank, go to **Workspace** settings and find the **API Access** card. Give the key a name you will recognize later, like `Production server`. Leave **Allow write access** on for a key that can change data. Turn it off for a read-only key. Choose **Never**, **30 days**, **90 days**, or **1 year**. The key stops working after that. Click **Create key** and copy it right away. You will not see the full key again. The full key is shown once, at creation. Copy it and keep it somewhere safe, like a password manager. If you lose it, make a new one. Every key looks like `zr_live_` followed by a long string of letters and numbers. ## What a key can do Each key carries one or both of these scopes (the things it is allowed to do): * **read** — every key has this. It can read your data with `GET` requests. * **write** — needed to create, update, delete, or run anything. A read-only key is safe to use where you only need to look at data. A `write` request with a read-only key gets a `403` reply. In the app, the **Allow write access** switch sets this. On gives a `read` + `write` key. Off gives a read-only key. ## Send your key Put the key in the `Authorization` header of each request, after the word `Bearer`. ```bash cURL theme={null} curl -H "Authorization: Bearer zr_live_your_key_here" \ https://api.zerorank.ai/api/v1/prompts ``` ```javascript JavaScript theme={null} const res = await fetch("https://api.zerorank.ai/api/v1/prompts", { headers: { Authorization: "Bearer zr_live_your_key_here" }, }) const body = await res.json() ``` ```python Python theme={null} import requests res = requests.get( "https://api.zerorank.ai/api/v1/prompts", headers={"Authorization": "Bearer zr_live_your_key_here"}, ) print(res.json()) ``` Keep your key secret, like a password. Do not put it in code you share or in a public place. Use a key with only the access it needs. ## See and remove keys The **API Access** card lists your active keys. For each one you can see its name, scopes, when it was made, and when it was last used. To turn a key off, click the trash icon and confirm. The key stops working right away. Do this if a key leaks or you no longer need it. A workspace can have up to 25 active keys at once. Remove an old key to make room for a new one. ## When a request is refused Check that you sent the `Authorization` header and that it starts with `Bearer `. Make sure the key is not removed or expired. You tried to change data with a read-only key. Make a new key with **Allow write access** on, or use one you already have. The API needs a paid plan or an active trial. Check your plan on the [billing page](/account/billing). The free tier cannot use the API. You went over your per-minute limit. Wait the seconds shown in the `Retry-After` header, then try again. Higher plans get a higher limit. Still stuck? Email [support@zerorank.ai](mailto:support@zerorank.ai). ## Keep going The base address, rate limits, and what comes back. See which plan you are on and what it includes. # ZeroRank API Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/api/overview Read your results and manage your data from your own code. The ZeroRank API (application programming interface) lets your own programs talk to ZeroRank. You can read your results and manage your [prompts](/start/glossary), brands, tags, and topics. It uses plain web requests, so it works from almost any language. A [prompt](/start/glossary) is a question we ask AI engines for you. A [chat](/start/glossary) is the answer an AI engine gave back. The API can read both. Think of each part of the API as a labeled drawer. You open the one you need and take out just those things. ## Who can use it The API comes with every paid plan. That means Starter, Pro, Enterprise, and AppSumo plans. Your subscription just needs to be active or in its free trial. The free tier cannot use the API. You need a paid plan or an active trial. Without one, requests are refused. ## The base web address Every request goes to the same base address: ``` https://api.zerorank.ai/api/v1 ``` You add the path for what you want on the end, like `/prompts` or `/brands`. ## Every request needs a key You send a key with each request. You put it in the `Authorization` header. ```bash theme={null} curl -H "Authorization: Bearer zr_live_your_key_here" \ https://api.zerorank.ai/api/v1/prompts ``` A key is tied to one workspace. It only ever sees that workspace's data. Learn how to create a key, pick what it can do, and keep it safe. ## How fast you can go Each key can make a set number of requests per minute. The number grows with your plan. | Plan | Requests per minute | | ---------- | ------------------- | | Starter | 60 | | Pro | 120 | | Enterprise | 300 | | AppSumo | 60 to 300, by tier | We send three headers back on every request so you can watch your limit: * `X-RateLimit-Limit` — your limit for the minute. * `X-RateLimit-Remaining` — how many requests you have left. * `X-RateLimit-Reset` — when the count starts over. Go over the limit and you get a `429` reply. Wait the number of seconds in the `Retry-After` header, then try again. ## What comes back Every reply is JSON — JavaScript Object Notation, a simple text format that programs read. A reply that worked has the same shape: ```json theme={null} { "success": true, "data": { }, "message": "Prompts retrieved successfully" } ``` When something goes wrong, `success` is `false` and `message` tells you why: ```json theme={null} { "success": false, "message": "Invalid, revoked, or expired API key", "code": "API_KEY_INVALID" } ``` ## What you can do Pick a group on the left to see each request, or jump in here: * **Workspace** — check the workspace, plan, and key behind a request. * **Prompts** — list, create, update, delete, and run prompts. * **Brands** — manage the brands you track, including competitors. * **Tags and topics** — label and sort your prompts. * **Analytics** — read your top sources, recent chats, and brand rankings, or pull a single chat's full answer with every URL it cited. ## Prefer plain chat? You do not have to write code to reach your data. The [MCP](/start/glossary) server lets your AI assistant read it for you in plain chat. MCP is short for Model Context Protocol. ## Keep going Create a key and send it with your requests. Ask your AI assistant about your data in plain chat. # Citation tracking Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/citations/citation-tracking The websites AI points to when it answers — and whether yours is one of them. A [citation](/start/glossary) is **a website the AI points to as its source**. When an AI engine answers a question, it often shows links to the pages it used. Those links are citations. ZeroRank pulls the citations out of every [chat](/start/glossary) (the answer an AI engine gave back) it captures. So for each answer, you can see exactly which websites helped shape it. Zero Rank Citation Sources ## Why citations matter When AI cites a site, it is treating that site as trustworthy. The page passed the AI's bar for a good source. Being cited is also how you get recommended. AI reads its trusted sources, then writes its answer from them. If your pages are in that trusted pile, AI is far more likely to name you. Mentions and citations are not the same thing. A mention is AI saying your brand name. A citation is AI linking to your website as a source. You want both. ## Citation share Citation share is how often your site is cited compared to everyone else. It answers one question: out of all the sources AI pulls from for your topic, how big a slice is yours? * A bigger slice means AI leans on your pages a lot. * A smaller slice means rivals' pages are doing more of the work. ZeroRank stores a citation count and a source count for every chat. Adding those up across all your answers is what lets you see your share and compare it to others. ## Watch the pages you care about Some pages matter more to you than others. Maybe it is your pricing page, a buying guide, or a comparison post. You want AI to cite those. Watched pages let you keep an eye on specific pages you want cited. You pick the pages, and ZeroRank tracks whether AI is pointing to them. ZeroRank even uses **Citation Watched Pages** as a step you can drop into a [workflow](/start/glossary), so you can check on them automatically. If a page you are watching stops getting cited, that is your signal to refresh it. ## Find the pages cited most often This is task 3 on your [getting-started checklist](/start/getting-started-checklist). Here is how to use it. The view lists the domains and pages that show up most across your answers. See which pages AI quotes again and again for your topic. These are the pages shaping how AI talks about your space. Some will be yours. Many will belong to rivals or to neutral sites like review lists. That tells you who AI trusts right now. The pages cited most often are a map. They show you the kind of content AI likes to quote for your topic. ## From citations to action Once you know what gets cited, you can make more of it. The goal is simple: create the kind of pages that get cited. * Look at the page types that win citations on the [sources](/citations/sources) page. * Then use [create content](/improve/create-content) to publish pages built the same way, clear and easy for AI to quote. As your new pages start showing up as citations, AI begins to trust and recommend you more. ## Keep going Learn which kinds of pages AI quotes from most. Publish pages built to get cited and quoted. # Sources Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/citations/sources Where AI gets its information, sorted by website and page type. When an AI engine answers a question, it pulls facts from websites. A **source** is one of those websites. The **Sources** page sorts them for you, so you can see which sites AI engines trust in your space. Think of sources as the books AI quotes from. If your page is not on the shelf, the AI cannot read from it. ## Two ways to look at sources ZeroRank shows your sources in two views. Each one answers a different question. **Domains** — whole websites, like `wikipedia.org` or a rival's full site. Use this view to see which sites get quoted most. Zero Rank Source Domains **URLs** — single pages, like one blog post or one product page. Use this view to see which exact pages win the answer. Zero Rank Sources UR Ls Start with domains to spot the big players. Then switch to URLs to find the precise page you need to beat. ## Domain types ZeroRank tags every domain with a type, so you can tell what kind of site it is at a glance. There are 7 domain types. Company websites, run by a business to talk about itself. News and magazine sites that publish stories and reviews. Official bodies like governments, schools, and non-profits. Sites where people post, like forums and Reddit. Encyclopedias and dictionaries, like Wikipedia. Your rivals' sites. These are the competitors you chose to track. Any site that does not fit the types above. Zero Rank Sources Domain Type ## Page types ZeroRank also tags every cited page with a type, so you can see what kind of page earned the quote. There are 11 page types. The front page of a website. A page that groups many items, like "running shoes". A page about one product or service. A "top 10" style list, like "10 best CRM tools". An "X vs Y" page that puts two things side by side. A page about one person, company, or brand. An "alternatives to X" page that lists other options. A forum thread where people ask and answer. A step-by-step guide that teaches you to do something. A regular blog post or news story. Any page that does not fit the types above. Zero Rank Sources URL Type ## Use types to plan your content These tags do more than label sites. They show you what kind of page AI engines reward in your space. Here is how to turn that into a plan: Open Sources and look at the page types AI engines quote most for your prompts. Maybe comparison pages and listicles win the answer, while your homepage never does. Build the page types that get cited. If lists win, write a list. If "X vs Y" wins, write the comparison. A [citation](/start/glossary) is a website the AI pointed to as its source. Sources collects every citation from your [chats](/results/recent-chats) and sorts them for you. ## Keep going See how ZeroRank finds and counts the websites AI engines quote. Build the page types that win answers in your space. # Your AEO score Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/improve/aeo-score A 0-100 grade for how AI-friendly a piece of content is. Your AEO score is a grade from 0 to 100 for a piece of content. AEO means [Answer Engine Optimization](/start/glossary) — making your content easy for AI to find and quote. A higher score means it is easier for AI to find, read, and quote your content. A lower score means AI may skip it or get it wrong. The score is a guide, not a pass-or-fail test. Use it to spot weak spots, then fix them. ## What goes into the score ZeroRank looks at 6 signals. Each one gets its own grade from 0 to 100. Then we mix them together. Some signals count more than others, so each has a weight. | Signal | Weight | What it means in plain words | | --------------------- | ------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | Information density | 30.55% | How much real, on-topic substance you pack into each paragraph. | | Answerability signals | 22.9% | Does it directly answer questions the way people actually ask them. | | Content freshness | 16.33% | Is it recent and clearly dated. | | Machine readability | 11.57% | Can software easily read the structure and the behind-the-scenes details. | | Readability | 10.2% | Is it easy for a person to scan and understand. | | Content structure | 8.45% | Does it have a clear title, headings, and subheadings. | Your overall score is the weighted average of these 6 grades. So the signals with bigger weights move your score the most. ## How to raise each signal Want a better score? Work on the signals one at a time. Here is one quick tip for each. Cut filler and fluff. Make every paragraph add a real fact, number, or step that helps the reader. Ask the question, then answer it right away. Use the same words your readers would type into an AI engine. Show a clear date and keep facts up to date. Old, undated pages look stale to AI. Use clean headings, lists, and a page title and description. This helps software read your page. Write short sentences and short paragraphs. Break big blocks of text into bullets so people can scan. Give the page one clear title. Add headings and subheadings so each part is easy to find. Start with the heaviest signals. Improving information density and answerability moves your overall score the most. ## Where you see your score You see the AEO score inside [Create / Optimize](/improve/create-content). When you write a new article or paste in an old page, ZeroRank grades it on all 6 signals and shows you the overall number. Zero Rank AEO Score It also lists recommendations for each signal. Make a change, run it again, and watch the score go up. Zero Rank AEO Recommendations ## Keep going Write or improve a page and grade it on all 6 signals. Check whether AI engines can reach and read your whole site. # AI readiness checks Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/improve/ai-readiness-checks A site checkup that helps AI understand who you are and what you offer. AI engines read your website before they answer questions about you. ZeroRank checks your site for the things those engines look for. Each check passes or fails, and you get a clear list of what to fix. Zero Rank AI Readiness Score The check is split into four parts. Below is every item, what it is, and why AI likes it. ## What we check Small files at the root of your site that tell crawlers (the bots that read websites) what to do. * **`llms.txt`** — a file that introduces your site to AI models, so they understand what you offer. * **`robots.txt`** — a file that tells crawlers which pages they may visit. * **`sitemap.xml`** — a map of all your pages, so crawlers can find every one. * **HTTPS** — a secure connection, which AI engines trust more than a plain one. Schema markup means small labels in your page code that tell machines what things are. Clear labels help AI quote you correctly. * **JSON-LD** — the format these labels are written in. * **Organization** — labels that say who your brand is. * **Article** — labels that mark a piece of writing, like a blog post. * **Product** — labels that describe something you sell. * **FAQ** — labels that mark questions and answers. * **HowTo** — labels that mark step-by-step instructions. Extra tags that give AI a tidy preview of your page and show who made it. * **Open Graph** — tags that build a rich preview when your page is shared. * **Twitter Card** — tags that build a preview on X (Twitter). * **Canonical URL** — a tag that points to the one true web address for a page, so AI does not see duplicates. * **Author** — a label that names who wrote the content, which signals expertise. * **Breadcrumbs** — labels that show where a page sits in your site, so AI understands your structure. A score for how fast your pages load, on both phone and desktop. Fast pages get crawled and used more happily, so AI is more likely to reach all of your content. You do not need every check to pass. Start with the ones marked as failed. Each one comes with a short note on what to add. ## Where to find this in the app You can run this checkup yourself. In [the app](https://app.zerorank.ai), go to the technical recommendations area. The top card shows your **AI Readiness Score** and how many checks passed. Each failed check comes with a short note on what to add. Hand it to whoever manages your site. After you make a change, click **Re-check** to run the checkup again. Not sure what a word like `llms.txt` or schema means? The [glossary](/start/glossary) explains the terms in plain words. ## Next steps See the full list of fixes ZeroRank suggests for your site. Check how ready a single page is for AI answers. # Create AEO content Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/improve/create-content Write new pages built to get picked up by AI answers. AEO means Answer Engine Optimization — making your content easy for AI to find and quote ([glossary](/start/glossary)). ZeroRank helps you write pages built to get picked up by AI answers. There are two ways to work. You can **create** a brand-new article from scratch. Or you can **optimize** a page you already have. Pick the tab that fits what you need. Start with nothing and let ZeroRank build a full article with you. Go to **Create content** in the app at [app.zerorank.ai](https://app.zerorank.ai). Tell ZeroRank your topic. It writes a brief first — a short plan for the article, with the main points to cover. Read the plan. Change any part that does not fit. The brief shapes the whole draft, so get it right here. ZeroRank turns the brief into a complete article. It writes in your brand voice and follows your rules. As you edit, ZeroRank scores the draft in real time. The score shows how ready your page is for AI answers. Keep editing until you are happy. Already have a page? Get a score and a list of clear fixes. Go to **Create content** in the app at [app.zerorank.ai](https://app.zerorank.ai). Paste your existing text, or pick a page you have made before. ZeroRank reads the page and scores it in real time. The score shows how ready it is for AI answers. ZeroRank lists concrete changes that would raise the score. Apply the ones you want. ## What the writer uses ZeroRank does not write in a flat, generic voice. It pulls from a few things you set up. * **Your Brand Kit.** This holds your brand voice and your writing rules. The draft sounds like you, not like a robot. Set it up in [Brand Kit](/improve/brand-kit). * **Templates and briefs.** A brief is the plan for one article. Templates give each draft a clear, repeatable shape. ## Fixes it can apply When you optimize a page, ZeroRank suggests changes that help AI engines read and quote it. These include: * **Remove AI speech patterns.** It strips out the stiff, robotic phrases AI tends to overuse, so your page reads like a real person wrote it. * **Schema generator.** It builds schema markup — hidden labels that tell engines what your page is about. * **Improve structure.** It tidies your headings and sections so the key answers are easy to find. Your plan sets how much content you can make each month. Starter gives you 3 article generations and 3 content optimizations. Pro gives you 12 and 12. Enterprise gives you more. Yearly billing saves up to 15%. ## Publish your page When the page is ready, send it where it needs to go. You can publish to WordPress or your own CMS straight from ZeroRank. A CMS, or content management system, is the tool that holds your website pages. See [Integrations](/integrations/overview) for the setup. Every document keeps its **status** and its **versions**. Status tells you where the page stands, like a draft or finished. Versions save your earlier edits, so you can look back or roll back any time. ## Keep going Set the voice and rules every draft should follow. Learn what the score measures and how to raise it. Connect WordPress or your CMS to publish your pages. # Recommendations Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/improve/recommendations Clear next steps to help AI mention you more. Recommendations are clear next steps ZeroRank suggests for your brand. Each one is a small thing you can do to get AI engines to mention you more often. ZeroRank reads your daily results and spots where you can grow. Then it turns that data into a to-do list, written in plain words. You do not have to guess what to fix. You just work through the list. New here? Your visibility score is the share of AI answers that mention your brand. See [visibility score](/results/visibility-score) for the basics. ## The three kinds of recommendations Recommendations come in three groups. Each group helps AI find and trust you in a different way. On-page opportunities are content to create or improve on **your own** website. These suggest pages to write, sections to add, or wording to clean up. The goal is to give AI clear, quotable answers that name your brand. When your site answers a question well, AI is more likely to point to you. Want to act on these fast? ZeroRank can help you write the page. See [create content](/improve/create-content). Off-page opportunities are places to show up on **other** websites. AI engines read more than your own site. They also read reviews, profiles, lists, and community posts. These suggestions point you to those places — like reaching out to a site, claiming a profile, or joining a community where your buyers ask questions. Showing up in more trusted spots means more answers can mention you. Technical recommendations are site health fixes so AI can **read** you. If your pages are slow, blocked, or hard to read, AI may skip them. These suggestions flag those issues so your content gets seen. Many of these come from your site scan. See [AI readiness checks](/improve/ai-readiness-checks) for the full health report. ## How to work through them Open the **Recommendations** page to see your full list. Then go one at a time. Read what ZeroRank suggests and why it helps. Each one explains the step in plain words. Start with the suggestions that match your goals. You can do them in any order. Each suggestion has a status you can update, like **reviewed** or **implemented**. Set the status as you go, so you can see what is left and what is done. ZeroRank uses AI to draft new suggestions for you. The number waiting at once depends on your plan. As you act on suggestions, more can show up over time. You don't have to clear the whole list at once. Pick one suggestion a week and your visibility score climbs little by little. ## Where this fits in setup Reviewing your recommendations is task 4 on your getting-started checklist. It is the moment your data turns into action. See [the getting-started checklist](/start/getting-started-checklist) for the full set of first-week tasks. ## Next steps Turn an on-page suggestion into a published page AI can quote. Fix the technical issues that stop AI from reading your site. # CMS: Contentful, Sanity, and BaseHub Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/integrations/cms Connect your content system so workflows can create and publish entries. A CMS (content management system) is the tool you use to write and store pages on your site. Connect yours to ZeroRank once. After that, your [workflows](/start/glossary) can write new content straight into it. You can connect Contentful, Sanity, or BaseHub. Pick your tool below. Keep your tokens secret. Anyone who has one can change your content. Never share them or post them in public. If a token leaks, delete it in your CMS and connect again. Contentful connects with one click. You sign in and approve, and you are done. There are no keys to copy. In ZeroRank, go to **Integrations** and find **Contentful**. Click **Connect via Contentful**. A Contentful window opens. Sign in to Contentful if asked. Then click **Approve** to let ZeroRank manage your content. That is it. **What you can do:** workflows can create, update, get, and list entries in your space. Sanity uses two values you copy and paste: an API token and a Project ID. In your Sanity project, open **API** settings and add a new token with write access. Copy it. The token starts with `sk`. Your **Project ID** is on your Sanity project dashboard. Copy it too. In ZeroRank, go to **Integrations** and find **Sanity**. Paste the token into **API Token** and the ID into **Project ID**. Click **Connect**. **What you can do:** workflows can create, get, list, update, and publish documents in your project. BaseHub uses one value you copy and paste: an Admin Token. In your BaseHub repository, open **Settings** and find **API Tokens**. Create an **Admin Token** and copy it. The token starts with `bshb_pk_`. In ZeroRank, go to **Integrations** and find **BaseHub**. Paste the token into **Admin Token**. Click **Connect**. **What you can do:** workflows can create, list, and get posts in your repository. ## What happens after you connect Once your CMS is linked, it shows up as a step you can add to a workflow. For example, a workflow can write an article and then publish it to your CMS without you copying anything by hand. Need help? Email [support@zerorank.ai](mailto:support@zerorank.ai). ## Next steps Put your CMS to work with an automated content step. Connect WordPress, Slack, and other tools too. # MCP server Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/integrations/mcp-server Ask Claude or Cursor about your ZeroRank data in plain chat. The MCP server lets your AI assistant read your ZeroRank data. MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. Once it is connected, you can ask Claude or Cursor about your brands, prompts, and rankings in plain chat. No copy and paste. A [prompt](/start/glossary) is a question we ask AI engines for you. Your assistant can now look those up for you too. Think of MCP as a doorway that lets your AI assistant read your ZeroRank data. ## Who can use it Every paid plan includes the MCP server. That means Starter, Pro, Enterprise, and AppSumo plans. Your subscription just needs to be active or in your free trial. The free tier cannot connect. You need a paid plan or an active trial. Without one, the connection is refused. ## What your assistant can see Access is read-only. Your assistant can look at your data, but it can never change it. The connection only sees the one workspace you pick. It cannot read your other workspaces. Your assistant can read: * Your workspace info * Your brands * Your prompts * Your tags and topics It can also look things up for you: * Details of a single prompt or brand * Lists of your prompts * Your recent [chats](/start/glossary) (the answers AI engines gave back) * The websites and pages cited most often * Your brand rankings over time, going back up to 90 days ## Connect your AI assistant Open your AI client and add the ZeroRank MCP server. This works in Claude, Cursor, and other apps that support MCP. Your client sends you to a ZeroRank sign-in page in your browser. Sign in to ZeroRank. Then choose which workspace you want to share. The screen says the client can **Read your prompts, brands, and tags**, **Read your content documents**, and **Search your workspace data**. Click **Approve**. That is it. Access lasts about 30 days. After that, you approve again. ## Good to know * **Read-only.** It can never change your data. * **One workspace per connection.** Pick a different workspace by connecting again. * **Up to 120 requests per minute.** Plenty for normal questions. ## Questions to ask Once connected, try asking your assistant things like: * "What were my brand rankings last month?" * "Which websites get cited most for my prompts?" * "Show my active prompts about pricing." ## Troubleshooting You need a paid plan or an active trial. The free tier cannot connect. Check your plan on the [billing page](/account/billing). Access lasts about 30 days. When it runs out, just connect again and approve. This refreshes your access. Still stuck? Email [support@zerorank.ai](mailto:support@zerorank.ai). ## Keep going Get ZeroRank updates where you already work. See the answers AI engines gave back. Want to write code instead? Use the REST API. # Integrations Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/integrations/overview Connect ZeroRank to the tools where you publish and chat. Integrations connect ZeroRank to the other tools your team already uses. Once a tool is connected, your [workflows](/workflows/overview) and content publishing can reach it. For example, a workflow can post an update to Slack, or ZeroRank can publish a new article straight to your WordPress site. Zero Rank Integrations ## Connections are shared by your whole team Every connection lives at the workspace level. That means you connect a tool once, and everyone in your workspace can use it. You do not each need your own login. One member sets it up, and the whole team is ready to go. A workspace is your shared team space in ZeroRank. Members in the same workspace share connections, prompts, and results. ## Where to connect a tool You set up connections from your workspace settings. Open the **Workspace** tab and find the **Integrations** section. Click the tile for the tool you want, like Slack or WordPress. Click **Connect account** and follow the steps for that tool. ## Two ways to connect How you connect depends on the tool. Some use a one-click sign-in. Others ask you to paste a key. These tools let you sign in with a popup. You approve the connection there, and ZeroRank gets the access it needs. There are no keys to copy. * **Slack** * **Contentful** Click **Connect account**, approve in the popup, and you are done. These tools ask for a key (a secret code) you copy from the other tool. You paste it into ZeroRank to link the two. * **WordPress** * **Sanity** * **BaseHub** * **v0** * **Gamma** Open the other tool, copy the key it gives you, then paste it into ZeroRank and save. Keys are secret, like a password. Do not share them or post them in public. ZeroRank hides them after you save. ## Check that a connection is healthy ZeroRank tests every connection the moment you save it. This tells you right away if something is wrong. Each connection shows its health: * **Active** — the connection is turned on and ready to use. * **Verified** — the last test worked and the tool answered. * **Last error** — if a test failed, this shows what went wrong. You can re-test a connection any time. This is handy if you changed a key or fixed a setting in the other tool. If a test fails, check the key and try again, or email [support@zerorank.ai](mailto:support@zerorank.ai). ## Where connections get used After a tool is connected, it shows up in two places: * **Workflow steps** — a [workflow](/workflows/overview) can use a connected tool, like sending a message to Slack. * **Content publishing** — when ZeroRank [creates content](/improve/create-content), it can publish to a connected site like WordPress. ## Keep going Connect a WordPress site to publish articles. Connect Contentful, Sanity, BaseHub, and more. Send messages and link AI helpers like v0 and Gamma. Let your AI assistant read your ZeroRank data. Read results and manage your data from your own code. # Slack, v0, and Gamma Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/integrations/slack-and-ai-tools Send alerts to Slack and generate UI or slides inside workflows. These three connections give your [workflows](/workflows/overview) something extra to do. Slack sends you messages. v0 builds web pages. Gamma makes slides and docs. Pick a tab below to connect the one you want. A workflow is a set of tasks that run on their own. Once you connect one of these tools, a workflow step can use it. Slack lets a workflow message you. A great use is "tell me when my report is ready." Connecting takes one click. You do not paste any keys. Go to [Integrations](https://app.zerorank.ai) and start the Slack connection. Slack asks if ZeroRank can post messages and see your channels. Click **Allow**. The connection saves itself with the name **Slack - your team name**. The team name fills in for you. Now a workflow can send a message to any channel you choose. v0 builds web pages from a short prompt. A workflow step can make the page and put it online for you. You connect v0 by pasting a key. Open your account settings on [v0.dev](https://v0.dev) and copy your API key. It starts with `v0_`. On the [Integrations](https://app.zerorank.ai) page, paste the key into **V0 API Key**. Type a name into **Connection Name** so you can spot it later. Then save. In a workflow, the v0 step turns a prompt into web UI. You can also let it deploy the page, so it goes live with no extra work. Gamma makes presentations, documents, and webpages. A workflow step can build one for you. You connect Gamma by pasting a key. Open your workspace settings in Gamma and copy your API key. It starts with `gamma_`. On the [Integrations](https://app.zerorank.ai) page, paste the key into **API Key**. Type your Gamma workspace name into **Workspace Name**. Then save. In a workflow, a Gamma step can create a new presentation, document, or webpage. It can also remix one of your own Gamma templates into something new. Your v0 and Gamma keys are like passwords. Anyone who has a key can use your account. Never share a key or paste it where others can see it. If a key leaks, make a new one in that tool and update your connection. ## Keep going Put these connections to work in a few steps. See every tool you can connect to ZeroRank. # WordPress Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/integrations/wordpress Publish and update WordPress posts straight from ZeroRank. Connect WordPress so ZeroRank can put your content right on your site. You write or improve a post in ZeroRank, then send it to WordPress in one step. ## What you can do once connected After you connect, ZeroRank can work with your WordPress posts for you. It can do this from a [workflow](/workflows/overview) or when you publish content you made in [Create content](/improve/create-content). * **Create a post** — add a brand-new post to your site. * **Update a post** — change a post that is already there. * **List posts** — see the posts on your site, including drafts. * **Get a post** — pull up one post to read or edit it. A new post can go up as a draft first. That way you can read it on your site before anyone else does. ## Connect your site You will need two things: an application password from WordPress and your site URL. An application password is a special extra password just for apps. It is **not** your normal login password. Log in to WordPress. Go to **Users → Profile**, then scroll to **Application Passwords**. Type a name like `ZeroRank` and create one. WordPress shows the password once. Copy it now. In ZeroRank, go to **Settings → Workspace → Integrations → WordPress** and click **Connect account**. Fill in three fields: * **Username** — your WordPress username. * **Application Password** — the password you just copied (it looks like `xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx`). * **Site URL** — your full site address, like `https://example.com`. Click save. ZeroRank tests the connection right away and tells you if it worked. Treat the application password like a secret. Anyone who has it can post to your site. ZeroRank hides it after you save, so save it somewhere safe too. If it ever leaks, delete it in WordPress and make a new one. ZeroRank signs in using the application password (this is called Basic auth). Your normal login password is never shared. ## If the test fails Most failed tests come from a small typo. Check these two things first: * **Site URL** — make sure it starts with `https://`. The address `example.com` on its own will not work. * **Application Password** — make sure you copied the whole thing with no extra spaces at the start or end. Still stuck? Read the official [WordPress application passwords guide](https://make.wordpress.org/core/2020/11/05/application-passwords-integration-guide/), or email [support@zerorank.ai](mailto:support@zerorank.ai). ## Keep going Write or improve a post, then send it to WordPress. Set up steps that publish to WordPress on their own. # Monthly reports Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/results/monthly-reports A tidy monthly summary you can download as a PDF and share. A monthly report is a neat snapshot of how your brand did in AI answers. It pulls your most important numbers into one page. You can read it on screen, save it as a PDF, and send it to your team or your boss. The report always compares two time windows: this period and the one before it. That way you can see what went up and what went down. Zero Rank Reports ## What is inside the report The report has 9 parts, always in the same order. The three headline numbers up top. They are your [visibility score](/start/glossary) (the share of AI answers that mention your brand), your average rank, and the share of mentions that were positive. KPI is short for key performance indicator. That just means "a number worth watching." A list of your brand next to your competitors. Each one shows its visibility, its rank, and its [sentiment](/start/glossary) (whether the AI talked about you in a good, okay, or bad way). It also shows how each of those changed since last period. A line chart that shows the visibility trend over time, with one line per brand. You can see who is climbing and who is slipping. A simple timeline of how many [chats](/start/glossary) (the answers an AI engine gave back) ran each day. It helps you spot busy days and quiet days at a glance. A table with one row per [prompt](/start/glossary) (a question we ask AI engines for you). Each row shows the prompt's volume (how many chats ran), visibility, average position, mentions, and sentiment. The biggest movers in one place: your top 3 gainers (prompts where visibility rose the most) and your top 3 decliners (where it fell the most). How many mentions were positive, neutral, and negative, with the count for each. It also shows how those counts changed from last period. A 6-month view of visibility, sentiment, and average position. It shows the bigger story behind the day-to-day ups and downs. The exact dates being compared: the start and end of this period, and the start and end of the period before it. This tells you what "change" is measured against. Most numbers in the report come with a change next to them. A change is the difference from the period before, so you can tell if things got better or worse. ## How to export a PDF Go to [app.zerorank.ai](https://app.zerorank.ai) and open the **Reports** page. Make sure you are looking at the right brand and the right dates. Use the export option on the page. ZeroRank turns the report into a PDF file. The PDF downloads to your computer. Now it is yours to keep and share. ## How to share it Once you have the PDF, you can share it like any other file. Email it to your boss, drop it in a team chat, or add it to a slide deck. It reads well on its own, so the person who gets it does not need a ZeroRank login. Send the same report each month. Lined up side by side, the PDFs make your progress easy to see. ## Keep going See your live numbers any day, not just at month's end. Learn what the share-of-answers number really means. # The Overview dashboard Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/results/overview-dashboard Your home screen: a quick health check of your AI visibility. The Overview is the first screen you see when you open ZeroRank. It is a quick health check. In a few seconds, you can tell how often AI engines mention your brand and who shows up next to you. An [AI engine](/start/glossary) is a tool like ChatGPT or Perplexity that answers questions for people. ZeroRank watches what those answers say about you. ## What the Overview shows at a glance The Overview is split into a few cards. Each card answers one simple question. * **Visibility** — how often AI answers mention each brand, drawn over time. * **Brands** — the brands that show up most, including your competitors. * **Top Sources** — the websites AI engines quote most when they answer. * **Domain Types** — what kinds of sites those are (like news or blogs). * **Recent Chats** — the latest answers AI engines gave, so you can read them. Zero Rank Dashboard 1 ## The numbers in the Brands card The **Brands** card is a table. Each row is one brand, and three columns sit next to it. * **Visibility** — the share of AI answers that mention that brand. If 30 out of 100 answers name a brand, its visibility is 30%. * [**Sentiment**](/start/glossary) — whether the AI talked about that brand in a good, okay, or bad way. A colored dot shows which one. * **Rank** — where the brand usually lands when it is named. Rank 1 means it is the first brand the AI talks about. Your own brand is marked with a **You** label, so you can spot it fast. Zero Rank Dashboard Brands ZeroRank runs your [prompts](/tracking/prompts) every day and saves each answer. A prompt is a question we ask AI engines for you. The numbers on the Overview come from all those saved answers. ## Reading the trend over time The Visibility card is a chart. The line goes up when more answers mention you, and down when fewer do. Each brand gets its own colored line, so you can see how you stack up against competitors. Hover over a line to highlight that brand. Click a brand to filter the whole page to it. Zero Rank Dashboard Visibility Chart Watch the shape of the line, not just one day. A line climbing over a few weeks means your work is paying off. ## Filtering what you see You can narrow the Overview to focus on what matters. Use the filters at the top of the page. * **Date range** — pick the time window, like the last 7 or 30 days. * **Topic** — show only one [topic](/tracking/topics-and-tags), such as pricing or features. * **Tag** — show only prompts you have labeled with a tag. * **Brand** — focus on you or one competitor. * **AI engine** — show only ChatGPT, Perplexity, or another engine. Change a filter and every card updates to match. Zero Rank Dashboard Filters ## Top sources and domain types When an AI engine answers, it often points to websites as its sources. * **Top Sources** lists the websites AI engines quote most across your prompts. * **Domain Types** groups those websites by kind, so you can see if AI leans on news sites, blogs, or forums. Zero Rank Dashboard Sources Think of sources as the books AI quotes from. If one keeps getting quoted, getting mentioned there can lift your visibility. Knowing your sources tells you where to spend your time. ## Where to dig deeper The Overview is the summary. Each number has its own page with the full story. See how the share of AI answers mentioning you is measured. Learn how your brand's place in answers is scored. Explore every website AI engines quote about your topics. Read the actual answers AI engines gave, word for word. # Ranking Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/results/ranking Where your brand lands next to competitors in AI answers. When an AI engine answers a question, it often lists several brands at once. Maybe it names five hair clinics, or three running shoes. The order it picks them in matters. Being named first is better than being named last. Zero Rank Rank Example The **Rank** **score** shows where your brand lands in that order, next to your competitors. A lower number is better. Rank 1 means the AI talked about you before anyone else. ## Three ways we look at the Rank score ZeroRank calculates Rank at three different levels: ### Overall Rank Your overall Rank across all tracked prompts, topics, and AI engines. This gives you a high-level view of how your brand performs compared to competitors. You can view the overall rank from the **Overview** page. Zero Rank Rank Score ### Topic Rank Your Rank within a specific topic, such as CRM software, email marketing, or native advertising. These are the topics your prompts are grouped into. Topic rankings help you understand where you are strongest and where competitors are outperforming you. You can view the topic Rank from the **Prompts** page. Zero Rank Topic Rank ### Prompt Rank Your Rank for a specific prompt. For example: "What are the top native ad spy platforms for Outbrain and Taboola ads?" This is the most granular view and shows exactly how AI platforms rank brands for an individual question. You can view the prompt Rank by expanding the topics in the **Prompts** page. Zero Rank Prompt Rank Together, these views help you understand both your overall visibility and your performance on the topics and questions that matter most to your business. ## What "average Rank" means One answer is just one moment. ZeroRank runs your [prompts](/start/glossary) (the questions we ask AI engines for you) every day, across many AI engines. That is a lot of answers. So instead of one Rank, you get an **average Rank** score — your typical spot across all of those answers. * Average Rank **2** means you are usually named near the top. * Average Rank **8** means you usually show up much later, after other brands. Remember the rule: a lower number is better. ZeroRank also tracks how many times each brand was mentioned, and how its visibility and rank have moved over time. You will see these change numbers on the [overview dashboard](/results/overview-dashboard) and the Reports page. ## Comparing against competitors To get to the full **Brand Rankings** page, go to: **Overview > Brands card > Show all**. Zero Rank Brand Rankings Path Because every brand sits in the same table, you can line them up side by side. One glance tells you who AI names most, who it ranks highest, and where you fit in. You can change the view to focus on what you care about: * **Sort** the table by a column. Click a column header to put the best (or worst) brands at the top. Sort by **Avg. Rank** to see who lands first in AI answers. * **Search** for a brand by name to jump straight to it. * **Export** the table to a `.csv` file to keep a copy or share it. Zero Rank Brand Rankings If a competitor's average Rank is below yours, they are getting named first more often. That is a sign to look at what they are doing — and to work on your own content. ## Watching Rank changes over time Rank is most useful when you track how it changes over time. On the **Report** page, you can see your overall average Rank, as well as your rank for individual prompts. Next to each Rank score, you'll see a delta indicator that compares your current performance to the previous period: * 🟢 Green: your Rank improved. * 🔴 Red: your Rank declined. * ⚪ No color: your Rank stayed the same. Zero Rank Rank Reports Remember: lower Rank numbers are better. For example, moving from an average Rank of 5 to 3 is an improvement because your brand is being mentioned earlier in AI-generated answers. Moving from 3 to 5 means competitors are appearing ahead of you more often. The goal is simple: over time, you want your average Rank to move closer to #1. ## Keep going See the share of AI answers that mention your brand. Choose which competitors show up in your rankings. # Recent chats Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/results/recent-chats Read the actual answers AI engines gave to your tracked questions. Scores and charts tell you *how often* your brand shows up. Recent chats show you *what the AI actually said*. This page explains how to read those real answers. ## What is a chat? A [chat](/start/glossary) is the answer an AI engine gave back. Every day, ZeroRank asks your [prompts](/tracking/prompts) (the questions we ask AI engines for you) across 7 AI engines. Each answer it captures is one chat. Every chat keeps a full record, so you can see exactly what happened: * The **question** that was asked * The **answer** the AI gave back, word for word * The **AI model** that answered, like ChatGPT or Perplexity * The **location** the question was asked from * The **sources** — the websites the AI pointed to as its source * The **brand mentions** ZeroRank found in that answer * The brand **sentiment** — whether your brand was mentioned positively or not. Zero Rank Chat ## Why reading real answers matters A number can tell you that your brand showed up half the time. It cannot tell you *how* you showed up. Reading the real answer shows you things a score hides: * The exact words the AI used to describe you * Which competitors stood next to you in the same answer * Which websites the AI trusted enough to quote * Whether your brand was mentioned positively or not. This is the ground truth behind every chart. When a score moves, the chats explain why. ## Browse your recent chats Your latest answers live under **Overview → Recent Chats**. This is a quick window into what AI engines said today. Go to your [Overview dashboard](/results/overview-dashboard) and find the **Recent Chats** panel. Click any chat to open the full answer, with the question and the AI model right at the top. Want every answer for one question? Filter by the prompt to line them up side by side. For the complete history, open the full **Chats** browser. It holds every answer ZeroRank has captured, not just the newest ones. Zero Rank Chats ## What to look for in an answer When you open a chat, read it the way a customer would. Ask yourself three quick questions: * **Is your brand there?** Find your name in the answer. If it is missing, that is a gap to fix. * **Which competitors are there?** See who showed up instead of you, or right beside you. * **Which sources did the AI cite?** Note the websites the AI pointed to. Those are the pages winning the answer. How many answers you get each month depends on your plan: 4,500 on Starter, 13,500 on Pro, and 31,500 or more on Enterprise. See [billing](/account/billing) for the full breakdown. ## From a chat to action A chat is most useful when it leads to a change. Here is how to turn what you read into a next step: * **Your brand is missing?** Head to [gaps](/improve/gaps) to find the questions where you do not show up yet. * **A rival's website got cited and yours did not?** Open [sources](/citations/sources) to see which sites AI engines trust, then build content that earns the same spot. Think of sources as the books AI quotes from. If your page is not on the shelf, the AI cannot read from it. ## Keep going See the questions where your brand is missing, then fix them. Learn which websites AI engines quote, and how to join them. # Sentiment Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/results/sentiment Whether AI talks about your brand in a good, neutral, or not-so-good way. Sentiment measures how AI platforms talk about your brand when they mention it. Every time your brand appears in an AI-generated answer, ZeroRank analyzes the language used and classifies the mention as Positive, Neutral, or Negative. * **🟢 Positive** — the AI said something good about you. Shown in green. * **🟠 Neutral** — the AI just mentioned you, with no clear good or bad feeling. Shown in orange. * **🔴 Negative** — the AI said something not-so-good about you. Shown in red. ## Three ways to look at sentiment You can analyze sentiment at three different levels: ### Overall sentiment Your sentiment across all tracked prompts, topics, and AI engines. You will see this in the **Overview** and **Brand Rankings** page. Zero Rank Overall Sentiment ### Topic sentiment Your sentiment within a specific topic, helping you understand where your brand is viewed most positively or negatively. You will see this in the **Prompts** page. Zero Rank Topic Sentiment ### Prompt sentiment Your sentiment for an individual prompt, showing how AI platforms describe your brand for a specific question. You will see this in the **Prompts** page, when expanding on Topics. Zero Rank Prompt Sentiment ## Watching sentiment over time Check the **Reports** page regularly to see how AI perception of your brand is changing. The Sentiment Breakdown shows it in two ways * **A percentage split.** A colored bar shows how your mentions divide between the three groups. For example, 70% Positive, 25% Neutral, 5% Negative. * **Mention counts.** Under each group you see the real number of mentions. So you know if 5% Negative means 2 chats or 200. Zero Rank Sentiment The percentage shows the distribution. The count shows the scale. For example, 5% Negative sentiment may not matter if it represents two mentions. It becomes much more important if it represents hundreds of mentions. ### Comparing this period to last Next to each sentiment category, you'll see a delta indicator showing how sentiment changed compared to the previous period. * 🟢 Green indicates a positive change. * 🔴 Red indicates a negative change. * ⚪ No color indicates little or no change. For example, an increase in Positive sentiment is usually a good sign, while an increase in Negative sentiment may indicate emerging issues worth investigating. These indicators help you spot changes early and understand how AI platforms are talking about your brand over time. A mention only counts here when the AI actually talks about your brand. Chats that never mention you are not part of your sentiment. ## Comparing yourself to competitors Your numbers mean more when you put them next to your rivals. A 90% Positive score sounds great. But it matters less if a competitor sits at 98%. Check your overall sentiment to see how each brand you track is described. Look for two things: * Where a rival has more Positive mentions than you. * Where you have more Negative mentions than a rival. Those gaps show you where to focus next. ## What to do when negative sentiment grows A rising Negative number is not a reason to panic. It is a clue. Follow it in two steps. Open [Recent chats](/results/recent-chats). Find the answers that mention your brand in a bad way. Read them in full to learn why the AI said it. The cause might be an old review, a missing fact, or a competitor's claim. Go to [Recommendations](/improve/recommendations). It turns what you learned into clear next steps. These help you fix the story the AI tells about your brand. Read the chats before you act. The number tells you something changed. The chats tell you why. ## Keep going Read the real answers behind every sentiment score. Turn what you learn into clear next steps. # Your visibility score Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/results/visibility-score How often AI mentions your brand, shown as a simple percentage. Your visibility score is **the share of AI answers that mention your brand**. It is one number, shown as a percentage. In the app you will see it labeled **% of AI responses mentioning your brand**. Every day, ZeroRank runs your [prompts](/tracking/prompts) (a [question we ask AI engines for you](/start/glossary)) and reads each answer. Then it counts how many of those answers said your brand name. That count, turned into a percentage, is your visibility score. Zero Rank Dashboard Visibility Score ## A quick example Say ZeroRank collected 100 answers about your topic in a specific period of time. Your brand was named in 45 of them. * 45 answers out of 100 = **45%**. * So your visibility score is 45%. The math is always the same: brand mentions, divided by total answers, shown as a percentage. ## How to read the change arrow Next to your score, you will see a small badge with a change number. This is the **delta** — how your score moved compared to the period before. * A green, plus number means more answers mentioned you than last time. * A red, minus number means fewer answers mentioned you. * A flat number means your score stayed about the same. The delta compares this period to the one right before it. A single up or down day is normal. Watch the trend over a few weeks instead of one number. ## Compare against competitors Each brand you track gets its own visibility score, including your competitors. That lets you see, side by side, who AI talks about most. If a rival's score is higher than yours, AI is naming them more often than you. That gap is exactly what the rest of ZeroRank helps you close. See [brands and competitors](/tracking/brands-and-competitors) to set up the brands you compare. ## What counts as a good score? There is no magic target. A "good" score depends on your industry, how many rivals you have, and how broad your prompts are. The score that matters most is **higher than last month** and **higher than your competitors**. Aim to climb your own trend line, not to hit a fixed number. ## How to raise your visibility score A low score means AI does not have enough clear, quotable info about you. Here's a quick overview of how you can improve your score. For the full guide, check out the [Improve your visibility](/improve) section. Open [gaps](/improve/gaps) to see which questions mention rivals but skip you. Those are your fastest wins. Check [recommendations](/improve/recommendations) for the exact steps ZeroRank suggests for your brand. Use [create content](/improve/create-content) to publish clear pages that answer those missing questions. As more answers start naming your brand, your visibility score climbs and the change arrow turns green. ## Keep going See the questions where AI names rivals but not you. Follow the steps ZeroRank suggests to show up more. # Your getting-started checklist Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/start/getting-started-checklist Six small tasks that give you value in your first week. When you first open ZeroRank, the **Getting Started** page greets you with a short checklist. It walks you through the app one task at a time. Zero Rank Checklist Each task takes a few minutes. Together they help you see your brand's visibility score, learn where it comes from, and start making it better. ZeroRank ticks off each task as you finish it, so you can always see what's left. ## Work through the six tasks A short video shows you how ZeroRank works, from tracking your brand to improving it. It's the fastest way to get the big picture before you dig in. See how often AI answers mention your brand. You can filter by topics to spot the areas where you have the most room to grow. [See visibility score](/results/visibility-score). Your [visibility score](/start/glossary) is the share of AI answers that mention your brand. New here? Start with [What is ZeroRank](/start/what-is-zerorank). A [citation](/start/glossary) is a website the AI pointed to as its source. This view shows the domains and pages that come up most in answers, so you learn what shapes your mentions. [See citation tracking](/citations/citation-tracking). ZeroRank turns your data into clear, doable suggestions. Each one tells you a step you can take to show up more. [See recommendations](/improve/recommendations). Start your first content project. ZeroRank helps you write pages built for AI answer engines, using what it knows about your brand. [See create content](/improve/create-content). Bring your team into the workspace so you can share reports and work on content together. [See members](/account/members). ## A few tips * You don't have to do the tasks in order. Pick whatever matters most to you first. * Click any task to open it, read the short note, and jump straight to that part of the app. * The checklist remembers what you've done, so you can stop and come back later. Give your prompts a day to run first. ZeroRank checks the AI engines once a day, so your first scores fill in after that first run. ## Keep going Follow your data from a prompt to a score, step by step. Add your brand, competitors, and first prompts. # Plain-words glossary Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/start/glossary Every ZeroRank word, explained in plain language. Here is every ZeroRank word, sorted A to Z and explained in plain language. Answer Engine Optimization — making your content easy for AI to find and quote. Think of it like setting out clear signs so AI can easily spot you. A tool that answers questions in full sentences instead of a list of links. ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini are AI answer engines. We also call this an AI engine. When an AI engine names your brand in its answer. It is like hearing your name come up in someone else's conversation. The answer an AI engine gave back. Each time we ask a question, we save the full chat so you can read it later. A website the AI pointed to as its source. It is like the footnote at the bottom of a school report that says where a fact came from. Another brand you want to compare yourself against. We watch when they show up in answers next to you. A question where competitors show up but you do not. Think of it like an empty seat at the table that someone else took. Model Context Protocol, a doorway that lets your AI assistant read your ZeroRank data. You ask your assistant a question, and it walks through that doorway to fetch the answer. A question we ask AI engines for you. We run your prompts every day and save each chat that comes back. The smaller questions AI asks itself behind one question. It is like a librarian breaking your one request into a few quick searches. The position your brand takes in an answer compared to other brands. Ranking is the running record of those positions over time, like a leaderboard. Whether the AI talked about you in a good, neutral, or bad way. It is like the tone of voice someone uses when they mention you. A website AI engines get information from. Sources are the books AI quotes from. A label you create to organize prompts. Use tags like sticky notes to group prompts however you like. A subject area you picked at setup that groups prompts. Think of topics like the chapters that hold related prompts together. The share of AI answers that mention your brand. A higher score means your brand shows up in more answers. A set of steps that runs tasks for you, like Lego blocks for tasks. You snap the steps together once, and they run on their own. The shared home for your team and all its data. Everyone you invite works inside the same workspace. ## Keep going See the big picture before you dive in. Follow a prompt from question to answer. # How ZeroRank works Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/start/how-it-works Every day we ask AI engines your questions and check if your brand shows up. ZeroRank runs the same tracking loop daily. You pick the questions you care about. We ask the AI engines those questions. We read every answer. Then you see how your brand is doing. Here is the loop, step by step. You choose the questions your customers are likely to ask AI engines. In ZeroRank these questions are called **prompts**. A [prompt](/start/glossary) is a question we ask AI engines for you. We send each prompt to 7 AI engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overview, Grok, and Bing Copilot. We do this for you, automatically, every day. Each response from an AI engine is saved as a [chat](/start/glossary). ZeroRank reads each chat and extracts the key information, including brand mentions, ranking position, sentiment, and citations. We save every answer, so you can read the full chats yourself any time on [Recent chats](/results/recent-chats). ZeroRank turns those answers into scores, charts, and trends, so you can see how your visibility changes over time. Everything in one unified dashboard, no spreadsheets to build. Zero Rank Dashboard ## What we measure in each answer Every time we read a chat, we check four things about your brand: * **Mentions** — Whether the answer mentions your brand. * **Rank** — Where your brand appears in the answer compared to competitors. * **Sentiment** — Whether the AI describes your brand positively, neutrally, or negatively. * **Citations** — Which websites the AI uses or points to as sources. (Learn more about [citations](/start/glossary) in the glossary) On Starter, Pro, and Enterprise plans, your prompts run **every day**. On AppSumo lifetime plans, your prompts run **once a week** instead. ## A quick example Let's say you work for Adplexity, a platform that helps advertisers research competitor ads. You want to know how often AI platforms recommend Adplexity when users ask: **"What are the top native ad spy platforms for Outbrain and Taboola ads?"** Adplexity Example You might discover that competitors are consistently being cited by software review sites, industry publications, or comparison articles that HubSpot is not mentioned in. Based on these insights, ZeroRank provides recommendations to help improve your visibility, such as creating missing content, strengthening key topics, or increasing your presence on the sources AI platforms rely on most. That is the core idea behind ZeroRank: track the questions that matter to your business, understand what influences AI-generated answers, and improve your visibility over time. ## How ZeroRank collects data Some AI visibility platforms rely on APIs, which may provide limited data or omit parts of the user experience. ZeroRank collects answers directly from AI platforms and analyzes the same responses users see. This is known as data scraping. It allows us to track visibility, mentions, rankings, sentiment, and citations based on real AI-generated answers rather than a limited API dataset. API vs. scraping: API data shows what's available. Scraped answers show what users actually see. ZeroRank analyzes real AI-generated responses to give you a more accurate picture of your visibility. ## Next steps Get the big picture of what ZeroRank does and who it is for. Create your workspace, add your brand, and pick your first prompts. # Sign up and set up Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/start/sign-up-and-set-up Create your account and finish setup in a few short steps. Setup walks you through one screen at a time. It takes a few minutes. When you finish, ZeroRank already knows your brand, your competitors, and the questions to track for you. Every plan starts with a **7-day free trial** with every feature turned on. You will not be charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel any time before then. ## Set up your account Go to [app.zerorank.ai](https://app.zerorank.ai). You can sign in two ways: * **Magic link.** Type your email. We send you a sign-in link. Click it and you are in. No password to remember. * **Google.** Click **Continue with Google** and pick your account. A magic link is a one-time sign-in link we email to you. You never set a password. Pick your **company size**. Check the box if you are an agency. This helps us set things up to fit you. Type your **website** (like `example.com`). You can also write a short note about what your brand does. The more you say, the better the results. This is the first brand you track. You can add more later. ZeroRank reads your site and finds your top competitors and your industry. This takes a moment. Then it shows you where your brand ranks against those competitors today. Choose the main **region** and **language** for your audience. ZeroRank asks the AI engines your questions as if it were a person in that place. You can track unlimited countries later. Choose the **topics** you want to be found for. A topic is a subject your customers ask about. ZeroRank turns each topic into a set of prompts (a prompt is [a question we ask AI engines for you](/start/glossary)). You can add your own topics too. Pick **Starter**, **Pro**, or **Enterprise**. Switch to yearly billing to save up to 15%. Start your free trial or enter payment. You will not be charged during the 7-day trial. ZeroRank suggests prompts for each topic. Read each one. Keep the ones you like and remove the ones you do not. You can also add your own. These become the daily questions ZeroRank tracks for you. When you are done, you arrive at the getting-started checklist. It shows the next few things to do to get the most out of ZeroRank. ## What happens next ZeroRank starts asking your prompts across the AI engines every day. Your first answers (we call each one a [chat](/start/glossary)) show up soon after. Give it a day or two to fill in. Stuck on any step? Email [support@zerorank.ai](mailto:support@zerorank.ai) and we will help you finish setup. ## Next steps Work through the short list to set yourself up for good results. Add, edit, and organize the questions ZeroRank tracks for you. # What is ZeroRank? Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/start/what-is-zerorank ZeroRank is an AI search visibility platform that helps teams track, analyze, and improve how their brand appears in AI-generated answers. ZeroRank watches what AI engines say about your brand. Every day, it runs customer questions across platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Google AI Overviews, and more. It checks whether your brand appears in the answers, how visible it is compared to competitors, and which sources the AI uses to generate its responses. Based on these insights, ZeroRank gives you recommendations and workflows you can use to improve your visibility and increase your chances of being mentioned in future answers. The goal is simple: understand how your brand appears in AI-generated answers and identify opportunities to reach customers before your competitors do. ## Why this matters People are increasingly getting answers from AI. Sometimes that means asking ChatGPT or Perplexity directly. Other times it means reading an AI Overview in Google instead of clicking through multiple search results. These AI-generated answers often recommend products, compare solutions, and help people make decisions. Google AI Overviews If your brand isn't included in those answers, potential customers may never discover you. ZeroRank shows you where you appear, where you don't, and what you can do to improve your visibility. ## The 7 AI engines we track ZeroRank checks the same questions across seven AI engines every day: * ChatGPT * Perplexity * Gemini * Google AI Mode * Google AI Overview * Grok * Bing Copilot This gives you a single view of how your brand appears across the major AI platforms people use to discover products, services, and information. ## What does AEO mean? AEO stands for Answer Engine Optimization. In plain words, it means making your content easy for AI to find and quote. (Learn more in the [glossary](/start/glossary).) It is like SEO (Search Engine Optimization), but for AI answers instead of search results. Think of an AI engine as a quiz-show host. AEO is making sure your brand is the answer it gives. ## 6 things you can do with ZeroRank See how often AI answers mention your brand, with one easy score. Compare your brand to others and see who AI talks about more. Find the websites AI points to as its sources, including yours. Get simple, ranked steps to help AI mention you more. Write new pages built to be found and quoted by AI engines. Set up tasks that run on their own, on the schedule you pick. ## Next step See how ZeroRank turns questions into answers you can act on. Start your free trial and add your first brand. # Brands and competitors Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/tracking/brands-and-competitors Track your own brand and the rivals you want to beat. A brand is a name ZeroRank looks for inside AI answers. You track your own brand and the rivals you care about. Then every answer is checked for those names, so you can see who shows up and who does not. ## Your brand Your own brand is the first one you set up. ZeroRank uses it to spot you inside each [chat](/start/glossary) (the answer an AI engine gave back). You can track more than one spelling. People and AI engines write brand names in different ways. So a brand holds: * **Tracked names** — every spelling AI might use for you (like "ZeroRank" and "Zero Rank") * **Domains** — one or more websites you own * **Logo** — a small picture shown next to your name in charts * **Industry** — what your business does You can edit your own brand int the **Brands** page > Your brand. Zero Rank Brand Name When any tracked name or domain shows up in an answer, that counts as a mention for your brand. Advanced matching is available for tricky cases, like a name with many variations. Reach out to [support@zerorank.ai](mailto:support@zerorank.ai) if you need it. ## Competitors A competitor is a rival you want to beat. ZeroRank will automatically pick the list of competitors based on the information we have about your and your industry. You can also add the ones you care about, and ZeroRank tracks them the same way it tracks you. Each competitor has its own tracked names, domains, logo, and industry. Set them up just like your own brand. Then every answer is checked for them too. Zero Rank Brands ## Why competitors matter AI visibility is relative. You are not competing against a score. You are competing against the other brands AI platforms choose to mention. Tracking competitors helps you understand who is winning the conversations that matter to your business and where the gaps are between their visibility and yours. For example, you may discover that a competitor is mentioned more often, appears earlier in answers, or is consistently cited by sources that AI platforms trust. Those insights help explain why they are being recommended ahead of you. By comparing your performance to competitors, you can identify opportunities to improve your visibility and focus your efforts where they are most likely to make an impact. ## Editing a brand You can change any brand at any time. Open the brand in the **Brands** page and edit these: Add or remove tracked names. More spellings means fewer missed mentions. Add the websites tied to this brand. Upload a picture so the brand is easy to spot in charts. Set what the brand does. This keeps your list tidy. ## Show or hide brands Inside the **Brands** page, every brand can be set to **visible** or **hidden**. * **Visible** brands show up in your charts and tables. * **Hidden** brands stay saved but drop out of the views. Hiding is handy when a chart gets crowded. You keep the brand and its history, but clear the clutter. Turn it back on whenever you want. ## How brands flow into your results Once a brand is tracked, it feeds straight into your results. * On **Brand [Ranking](/results/ranking)s**, every brand gets a spot in the leaderboard. You see who shows up most across the AI engines. * On the [visibility charts](/results/visibility-score), your [visibility score](/start/glossary) (the share of AI answers that mention your brand) sits right beside each rival's score. So the brands you set here decide who appears in your charts. Add the right competitors now, and the rest of ZeroRank fills in around them. ## Keep going See the leaderboard of you and your rivals. Track the share of answers that mention you. # Prompts Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/tracking/prompts The questions ZeroRank asks AI engines for you every day. A **prompt** is a question we ask AI engines for you. ZeroRank runs your prompts every day and saves each answer as a [chat](/start/glossary). From those answers, it measures whether your brand shows up, where it ranks, how it was talked about, and which websites the AI cited. Think of a prompt as a question a real customer might type, like "best running shoes for flat feet" or "easiest accounting tool for freelancers." Zero Rank Prompts ## The three lists of prompts Your prompts live in three lists. Each list does a different job. These prompts are turned on. ZeroRank asks them on every scheduled run. On most plans that means once a day. On AppSumo lifetime plans, prompts run once a week. Active prompts count toward your plan limit. These are ideas ZeroRank wrote for you. They are waiting for your yes or no. A suggested prompt is not running yet. Accept it to start tracking, or reject it to clear it away. These prompts are paused. ZeroRank keeps them but does not ask them. Their past answers stay saved. Turn one back on any time to start tracking it again. ## How suggestions work ZeroRank writes suggested prompts for you, so you do not start from a blank page. It builds them from what it knows about your company and your [topics](/tracking/topics-and-tags). For each suggestion, you have two choices: * **Accept** it. The prompt moves to your active list and starts running. * **Reject** it. The prompt goes away and stops cluttering your list. Want more ideas? Click **Generate** to have ZeroRank write a fresh batch of suggestions. Track the questions your real customers actually ask. Those answers tell you the most about how buyers see your brand. ## Add your own prompts You do not have to wait for suggestions. You can write a prompt yourself. Go to **Prompts** in the app at [app.zerorank.ai](https://app.zerorank.ai). Type the exact question you want AI engines to answer. Pick a topic, add tags, and choose a location if the answer should reflect one country. Save the prompt. It joins your active list and runs on the next scheduled cycle. ## Pause a prompt Done with a prompt for now? Pause it instead of deleting it. A paused prompt moves to your inactive list and stops running. Its past chats stay saved, and pausing it frees up room under your plan limit. Turn it back on whenever you want. ## Organize with topics and tags When you track many prompts, you need a way to group them. ZeroRank gives you two: * A **topic** is one subject the prompt is about, like "pricing" or "shipping." * **Tags** are labels you add, like "brand" or "competitor." Topics and tags let you filter your results to one slice of your business. Learn how to set them up in [Topics and tags](/tracking/topics-and-tags). ## Look at one prompt's numbers Click any prompt to open its detail page. There you see how that one question did over time. You can check whether your brand showed up, where it ranked, and which websites the AI cited. This helps you spot which questions you win and which need work. Zero Rank Prompt View As you scroll down on the page, you will see all the recent Chats related to that prompt and whether your brand was mentioned. Zero Rank Prompt Chats Your plan sets how many active prompts you can track at once: 50 on Starter, 150 on Pro, and 350 or more on Enterprise. Pausing a prompt frees up a slot. ## Keep going Group your prompts so you can filter results fast. Read the real answers your prompts brought back. # Query fanout Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/tracking/query-fanout The smaller questions AI asks itself behind one of your prompts. When you ask an AI engine one question, it often does not search for that exact question. Instead, it quietly breaks your question into smaller ones and searches those first. **Query fanout** is the [smaller questions AI asks itself behind one question](/start/glossary). Say your [prompt](/tracking/prompts) is "best running shoes for flat feet." Before it answers, the AI might quietly look up "what causes flat feet," "shoe support for flat feet," and "top running shoe brands 2026." Those quiet little questions are the fanout. Think of it like a grocery list. You ask for "dinner," but the shopping list breaks into milk, bread, and eggs. The AI shops the small items, then hands you the finished meal. ## What ZeroRank shows you For each [chat](/start/glossary) (the answer an AI engine gave back), ZeroRank captures the fanout queries the AI used along the way. Then it pulls those queries together so you can spot patterns. You can see: * The list of fanout queries behind a chat. * The most common terms across those queries. * Simple stats about how much fanout happened. * Fanout grouped by the parent prompt it came from. Zero Rank Query Fanouts Grouping by parent prompt is the useful part. It shows you, for one of your prompts, every small question the AI tends to ask underneath it. How many fanout queries an answer used is saved with each chat. So you can look back at past answers and see how the AI broke your question apart over time. ## Why query fanout matters Each small question is another door into the answer. The more of those doors your content can walk through, the more chances your brand has to show up. If your website only answers the big question, you have one way in. If it also answers the smaller questions, you have many. That is why fanout is worth watching. ## Turn fanout into new ideas Fanout is a free list of what your buyers are really asking. Use it two ways. Read the small questions under one of your prompts. If a question keeps showing up and you are not tracking it, add it as its own [prompt](/tracking/prompts). Look at the common terms across the fanout. Those terms are gaps your content could fill. Write a page or [article](/improve/create-content) that answers them plainly. When your content answers the small questions, the AI has more reasons to pull from you. Over time that can lift your [visibility score](/results/visibility-score). ## Estimate fanout in a workflow ZeroRank also has a **Query Fanout Estimator** step you can drop into a [workflow](/workflows/overview). It guesses the small questions a prompt is likely to fan out into, so you can plan content before you even run the prompt. ## Keep going Add the small questions you find as new prompts to track. Turn fanout terms into pages that answer what buyers ask. # Topics and tags Source: https://docs.zerorank.ai/tracking/topics-and-tags Group your prompts so your results are easy to read. You can have a lot of [prompts](/start/glossary) (questions we ask AI engines for you). Topics and tags help you sort them. When prompts are sorted, your results are much easier to read. ## What is a topic? A topic is a subject area you picked when you set up your workspace. It groups prompts that share a theme. Every prompt belongs to one topic. So a topic is a big bucket, and your prompts live inside it. Zero Rank Topics And Prompts You choose your topics during setup, and you can create new ones from the same list of onboarding topics. ## What is a tag? A tag is your own label. You make up the word, then stick it on any prompt you want. A prompt can have many tags at once. And one tag can sit on many prompts. So tags are a flexible way to mark prompts however you like. ## When do I use each one? Pick based on the job you want done. | Use a topic when | Use a tag when | | ------------------------------ | ----------------------------------- | | You want a big, shared theme | You want your own personal label | | You want one bucket per prompt | You want to mark a prompt many ways | | You want to filter your scores | You want to quickly group prompts | Here is the simple rule: a prompt has **one** topic, but it can have **many** tags. ### Short examples * **Topic:** "Running shoes" groups every prompt about running shoes. * **Tag:** "holiday-2026" marks the prompts you care about this season. * **Tag:** "high-value" marks the prompts that matter most to sales. You can put the "high-value" tag on prompts from many different topics. That is the point of tags. ## Filter your results by topic Topics make your dashboards and scores easier to read. You can filter them by one topic at a time. For example, you can filter your [visibility score](/start/glossary) (the share of AI answers that mention your brand) by topic. That way you see how you show up for just running shoes, not everything at once. Go to your overview dashboard or a score page in the app. Choose a topic from the filter at the top of the page. Now the numbers only count prompts inside that topic. \\ Zero Rank Topic Filters ## Manage your tags You manage tags on the **Tags** page in the app. From there you can: * Create a new tag. * Attach a tag to one or more prompts. * Remove a tag from a prompt when you no longer need it. Because tags are your own labels, keep the words short and clear. Future-you will thank you. Think of tags like sticky notes. You can put the same note on many prompts, and many notes on one prompt. ## Keep going Choose the questions ZeroRank asks AI engines every day. See how often AI answers mention your brand.
